Company Background

200 Years of Practice Makes Perfect

Making naturally pure and consistently high-performing flour for over 200 years is no easy task, but we take such pride in our

flour that we wouldn't have it any other way. We're motivated by knowing that every day, people across the country count on our flour - on us - to make their baking the best it can be. And as a 100% employee-owned company, that's a responsibility every single one of us takes very seriously.

King Arthur Flour is America's oldest flour company, founded in Boston in 1790 to provide pure, high-quality flour for residents of the newly formed United States. For more than 200 years, we have stood by our commitment to purity and quality. Our flours are free of synthetic chemical additives - never bleached, never bromated - and we hold them to the strictest specifications in the industry so you know that every bag you get, today or 10 years from now, will perform the same way. King Arthur Flour is

available at most major supermarkets and through our catalogue.

King Arthur Flour - the Baker's Catalogue has been inspiring baking enthusiasts around the world since 1990 and has grown into

the largest-circulation catalogue for home bakers in the nation, with six million copies mailed out each year. We offer thousands of

hard-to-find ingredients, professional-quality baking equipment, baking mixes, and fresh-baked items from our Norwich bakery,

all wrapped together with top-notch photography, entertaining columns from Editor P.J. Hamel, and plenty of recipes.

In 1984, King Arthur Flour moved its headquarters to Norwich, Vermont. Camelot, as our headquarters is known, has since

become a bakers' paradise, home to not only The Baker's Store - full of all the wonderful things you see in our catalogue, and

more - but also the King Arthur Bakery, headed by Certified Master Baker Jeffrey Hamelman, and the Baking Education Center, where we offer hands-on classes for everyone from children to professional bakers.

Education is a significant part of our mission here at King Arthur Flour; we strive to provide great products to bake with, but more than that we want to share all the knowledge and inspiration we've gathered over the years. To that end, we offer many resources for home bakers, from award-winning cookbooks to free baking classes across the country.

Our cookbooks include King Arthur Flour Whole Grain Baking, nominated in 2007 for a James Beard Foundation Award; The King Arthur Flour Cookie Companion, nominated for an International Association of Culinary Professionals award in 2005; The King Arthur Flour Baker's Companion, named the 2004 KitchenAid Cookbook of the Year by the James Beard Foundation; and The King Arthur Flour 200th Anniversary Cookbook. We also publish an award-winning bi-monthly baking newsletter, The Baking Sheet.

Through our National Baking Classes, we reach thousands of home bakers each year, teaching them some basic science and techniques for successful baking. Our Life Skills Bread Baking Program visits middle schools, teaching kids to bake bread and donating ingredients so they can practice their new skill and share the results with local food pantries. Since the program's

inception in 1992, we've reached well over 75,000 school children in New England and beyond.

At King Arthur Flour, we like to share with the world not just our passion, but our compassion. From providing meal ingredients to local shelters, to sending aid to hurricane-ravaged states; from teaching Dominicans to bake in their volunteer-built clay ovens, to feeding the hungry nationwide through regular donations to Share Our Strength, we're always looking for ways to help make the world a better place. It's a commitment we make to ourselves, our communities, and generations to come.
