The Baking Sheet Named Best-Designed Consumer Subscription Newsletter

King Arthur Flour Publication Wins Gold Award in Design from The Newsletter on Newsletters

June 18, 2007 – Norwich, Vt. – The Baking Sheet, a bi-monthly baking newsletter from King Arthur Flour, was

named the Best Consumer Subscription Newsletter in the Design category of The Newsletter on Newsletters’ annual

awards competition.

“We’re thrilled that The Baking Sheet has been recognized by The Newsletter on Newsletters for its design,” said

Editor Susan Reid. “Our mission is to inform, educate, and inspire bakers in every way we can, and we feel this award acknowledges the success of our efforts.”

The Baking Sheet, established in 1990 and now edited by Susan Reid and designed by Brenda Hickory, has grown

over the years from a black-and-white, 7 ½”-by-8 ½” newsletter to a full-size, 20-page booklet including plenty of

recipes, many color photographs, process illustrations, extra tips and information, news about what’s happening at

King Arthur Flour, and a new department called “When Company’s Coming,” to offer recipe ideas for stress-free

entertaining. The Baking Sheet now includes about 25% whole-grain recipes.

Circulation for The Baking Sheet has grown in recent years to about 22,000 subscribers.

The annual Newsletter on Newsletter awards competition is in its 33rd year and is considered one of the most

prestigious in the field, according to Editor Paul Swift. About 200 entries were received this year from a variety of

publications, including large companies such as the Mayo Clinic and small, one-publication operations. Entries were

judged based on overall design, appropriateness for the market, appropriateness for the category, creativity, and

functionality.

Subscriptions to The Baking Sheet (six issues a year) are available through The Baker’s Catalogue by calling

800.827.6836 or visiting kingarthurflour.com.
