Golden Sweet Coffee Bread Mix
Our Golden Sweet Coffee Bread Mix makes a lovely, tender dough, perfect for baking into a simple loaf for toast, or to braid into a decorative bread. For traditional Swedish coffee bread flavor, add 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cardamom. Or use the dough as is to make cinnamon rolls.
To shape the dough into a braid:

- 1) Prepare the dough up through its first rise. Gently deflate it, and divide it into three pieces.

- 2) Gently roll each piece into a 14” log.

- 3) Line the pieces up, side by side, on a parchment-lined or lightly greased baking sheet. Bring an outside piece into the center.

- 4) Bring the piece on the other side into the center.

- 5) Continue alternating bringing the sides into the center until you reach the end of the loaf.

- 6) Seal the end with your fingers.

- 7) Seal the opposite end with your fingers, as well.

- 8) Allow the finished braid to rise before baking.

- 9) To finish the bread as pictured on the mix package, drizzle with glaze (recipe below), and sprinkle with toasted chopped nuts, which you’ve salted lightly.
Glaze
- 1/2 cup (2 ounces) confectioners’ or glazing sugar
- 2 tablespoons cream or half and half
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
Stir the ingredients together, adding additional sugar or cream to adjust the consistency. Drizzle glaze over the cooled loaf.
