King Arthur Flour Named One of Vermont's Best Places to Work in 2010
Employee-owned Company Makes List for Fourth Year
January 15, 2010 Norwich, VT America's oldest flour company has been named one of the 15 Best Places to Work in Vermont this year, the fourth year running. Final rankings will be announced at an awards gala in Burlington on March 29.
King Arthur Flour was named to the list of Best Places to Work in Vermont in 2006, 2007, and 2009; the award program skipped 2008. This year, King Arthur Flour will be ranked among small/medium-size companies (15-149 employees).
"King Arthur Flour employee-owners are very excited about making the list four years running," says King Arthur Flour HR Generalist Cindy Osgood. "Employees' willingness to complete the survey with their honest opinions is what makes all the difference in landing us on the list, and it provides critical feedback on the areas we need to give more focus as well as the areas in which we have improved. We're proud to say that this year we had our highest employee response rate yet."
The survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best workplaces in Vermont, companies that benefit the state's economy, workforce and businesses.
Award winners are determined in large part by an anonymous survey completed by employees to measure their experiences and find out what they really think about their companies; 70% of the judging for the award is based on those survey results. Judging also includes evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. The 2010 award program recognizes 15 companies in two categories: small/medium-size (15-149 employees) and large-size companies (150 or more employees).
The program, now in its fourth year in Vermont, was created by Vermont Business Magazine, the Vermont State Chamber of Commerce, the Vermont Department of Labor, the Vermont Department of Economic Development, the Society for Human Resource Management-Vermont State Council, and Best Companies Group.
