King Arthur Flour Honored with Terry Ehrich Large Company Leader Award
Employee-Owned Company Recognized for Socially Responsible Business Practices
April 30, 2008 Norwich, VT King Arthur Flour of Norwich, VT, was announced this week as the recipient of the 2008 Terry Ehrich Large Company Leader Award from Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility. The annual award recognizes companies demonstrating a sustained commitment to socially responsible business practices.
"King Arthur Flour has taken pride in its socially responsible business practices for more than 200 years, and the company has placed even greater importance on these efforts since becoming employee-owned more than a decade ago," said spokesperson Allison Furbish. "We believe businesses have a responsibility to uphold the social and environmental ideals Terry Ehrich worked for throughout his life, and we're very pleased to be honored in his name."
The prestigious Terry Ehrich award was established in 2002 in honor of Terry Ehrich of Hemmings Motor News in Bennington, Vt. In addition to running a successful business, Terry Ehrich was a founding member of VBSR, founder of the First Day Foundation for public schools, and a tireless advocate for public policies to protect the Vermont environment, workforce, and a sustainable economy.
King Arthur Flour will be honored at the Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility 2008 Awards for Excellence recognition dinner on June 12, 2008, aboard the Northern Lights cruise boat on Lake Champlain.
