Easiest Pizza You'll Ever Make

This makes a terrific “do-it-yourself-party!” All you do is make this simple dough and provide plenty of toppings and grated cheese. Your guests will have fun doing the rest. This recipe makes 3 to 4 twelve-inch pizzas. For a larger party, you can easily double it.

FIRST, about two hours before the party: Dissolve in 2 cups warm water, in this order, 1 tablespoon each of sugar, active dry yeast (or 1 packet), and salt. Blend in with a large spoon 5 to 6 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour (you can also add 2 tablespoons of olive oil for flavor). Turn out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and springy. Clean and grease your bowl, place the dough in it, cover and let rise until doubled in bulk (1 to 2 hours). Now proceed with your pizza!

NEXT, preheat your oven to 450°F and cut your dough, which you’ve punched down, into 4 pieces.

THEN, roll out each piece, on a floured surface, with a floured rolling pin, into a circle to fit a 12” pizza pan. (To roll, work from the center to the outside like pie dough. Let the dough rest several times to relax it and make it more cooperative. Turn it over from time to time and roll the reverse side.)

NEXT, brush on a bit of olive oil, spread pizza or spaghetti sauce lightly over the surface, and let your guests add their own toppings! Sprinkle the top with grated cheese.

LAST, bake for 15 minutes.

AHHH!

Fabulous! I made this and had 4 thin crust pizza's. They came out perfectly, I am extremely happy with this recipe and will make it often. I would like to try it again with half whole wheat flour. I am also wondering if dough can be frozen and at what stage you would freeze, after rising or before. Great recipe!
Stephanie - I am glad you enjoy this recipe. You may freeze it after the first rise. It should be defrosted in the frig overnight ready to use in the morning or later later in the day. Elisabeth @ KAF

Wow This dough is sooooo easy to make no more premade dough mix for me, its tastes wonderful. We loved the fact that once we had the dough all done, all we had to do was fix our individual pan pizzas with customized toppings. And in a short time we had our own creations ready to eat.

Very easy to make, and I added the KAF flavoring for pizza. Was looking for a little thicker crust.
Lisa, Just use a bit more dough per pizza to adjsut the crust to your preference. Frank @ KAF.

My family loves this pizza dough. I've made it a number of times. It makes 2 nice large pizzas. I even made this for my daughter's "make your own pizza" birthday party. I gave each child 1/8th of the dough and an aluminum pie pan and each made their own pizza. I do add the King Arthur Flour pizza flavoring and the optional olive oil.

I had some friends over for a dinner party and served them this pizza recipe, and it was a hit! The only tweaks I made was using half Sir Lancelot Hi-Gluten flour and half bread flour, and it made a wonderful, chewy crust. Delicious!

Made this with All Purpose Flour.....it was great! Easy to do...great texture, great flavor....slightly crispy on the outside. As with all bread and pizza dough...the less flour the better. I used 5-cups to start. It was very sticky when I went to knead it. I used about another half cup as I did the kneading.....working in just enough to be able to work the dough....but, leaving it slightly sticky when I was done kneading.
