what is it?

Milled from lower-protein wheat than all-purpose flour, self-rising flour produces softer, more tender baked goods. Like all our signature flours, it’s milled from only the finest wheat—and features non-aluminum baking powder. As always, you can rely on King Arthur’s quality.

how do you bake with it?

Use self-rising flour in recipes calling for it. To substitute self-rising for all-purpose flour, look for recipes using at least ½ teaspoon baking powder per cup of flour. And remember to omit the baking powder and salt from the recipe—it’s already in your self-rising flour.

what are people saying about our self-rising flour?

A positive experience all around. This flour worked well in both the biscuit and scone recipes. It was certainly easy to make a nice batch of tasty homemade biscuits in no time with this flour. My daughter even asked if there was enough flour left for her to make another batch of biscuits.

— K.Z. - Cary, NC

I am a ‘from scratch’ baker and didn’t see a need for self-rising flour since I always have all ingredients on hand; but the results were great. I’m now convinced that the self-rising flour is superior and I would use it again.

— S.H. - Sarasota, FL

I really liked this flour for quick recipes. It is probably as close as one can get to realizing awesome baking without having all the extra ingredients to add.
