I would prefer the specialized bags for storing bread at room temperature, but these plastic bags are an excellent size and quality for storing bread in the freezer. But what happened to the twist-ties that used to be included with the bags? I'm really not interested in buying "reusable" ties that will all be lost within a few months.
I'm sorry you're not happy about the lack of twist ties with the bags. Our vendor stopped providing them. Molly @ KAF

I too am looking for the active membrane bages by brotkoenig. They were fantastic.
Thanks for your suggestion. We've added it to our list of customer observations. Irene @ KAF

These bags are wonderful for storing and freezing all shapes and sizes of bread, muffins and cookies. Their large capacity makes them useful for many purposes.

These bags are very nice for baked goods and I also use them to store veges from my CSA. Very large and good for storage.

Very useful for big size breads. Use it to cover bowls for proofing, roll out dough in the bag.... Love it!!

Plastic does not let the bread breath. The former product Brotkoenig bags were great. Bread would stay fresh for almost two weeks. Alas the product is no longer sold and the web address is dead. The only reason to use plastic bag is that is all that is available.
Thanks for your comment. Paper bags are great for artisan breads, and we miss the old ones too. These bags are for more than just bread though. We store cookies, brownies, etc. in them. You can even fit a whole 13X9 pan right in the bag! Happy Baking! MJR @ KAF

So many uses! One of my favorite uses is for raising dough. I spray the inside of the bag with non-stick spray or drizzle a little oil in it or rub with softened butter and put the dough in for the first rise. Then after forming the dough, I cut the bag open and use it over the pan for the second rise.

Couldn't bake bread without these! Love the sturdy plastic and size. I re-use them, too, so they're worth every penny.

How do I use these? Let me count the ways. I slit them up one side and down the bottom to make a HUGE cover for rolling out cookie or pie dough. They're no cleanup. These bags are also big enough to fit over and 90% of the way down a full half sheet pan. If you're chilling scooped out pans of cookie dough, there's nothing better. You can fit a whole pie in its pan into this bag. They're awesom.

What's so exciting about a bag? Let me tell you, these GIANT plastic bags are far better than anything you'll get at your local grocery store- they're tough enough for the job. I've used them to transport all sorts of baked goods, but they've also come in handy for storing craft supplies, transporting delicate school projects, and even for putting soggy mini umbrellas in to keep the car from getting wet. If you love to bake and give away your yummies, 100 bags will still last a LONG time, and it's well worth the cost.
