I hadn't made sourdough in years, but this started is terrific. Both recipes are quite tasty and i have had great success with both.

Love my starter - my daughter threw out my old one because she thought it was "spoiled". I bake once a week for our regular bread and cinnamon swirl bread. Amazing!!!

This is the key to a real sourdough with the proper sour-tang. I've tried wild caught yeast, beer and wine yeast, and baking instant yeasts over 25 years. Great breads, but never had the classic sour taste until I got going with this starter. Product is perfect, I rated 4 stars because the instructions are FAR more complicated than needed. After fed, active and established: Once a week or so, remove/use some and feed with flour/non chlorinated water to maintain a pancake-batter consistency .

I have never tried making sourdough bread. The starter was very easy to use. I was not going to bake anymore sourdough bread but after tasting the baked bread, i will be using it again in the future.

I've had starter before, but didn't keep it up. then I got a fresh starter and the King Arthur Crock for Mother's Day. I'm keeping it in great shape now, thanks to the instructions provided. I've successfully made some beautiful loaves of bread using just this starter and recipes from my King Arthur bread book.

This is my second time with this starter. I threw the first one away after we had been through a hurricane and the power has been off for two weeks.I thought I had killed it so threw it into a container into the garbage can. I noticed when the garbage was getting ready to be picked up that it was bubbling away nicely. Wasn't going to take it out of the garbage can at that point but regretted that move ever since.this last Christmas I asked my sister for sourdough starter and received it! She did not feed it, but put it in my stocking so it sat for longer than it should have before being fed. I fed it immediately and it has been bubbling away happily for me ever since and I have shared it with others. I love the sourdough starter!! I've just put a batch of sourdough sticky buns in to bake... mmmmmm

Amazing product! Yes, I named mine, since it is alive after all and you can see that the minute you feed it. Ringo seems quite happy living in my refrigerator and he works perfectly. The various breads I've made so far have all been perfect except for one, but I'm getting a feel for how they have to look and feel right at the git-go, so I'll try the one I flubbed again soon. It wasn't Ringo's fault, by the way. I'll tell him hi for you. ;-)

I have tried many sourdough starters. This one is my favorite!
