This is the absolute best slasher/lame that I have ever used and I have been baking yeast breads for almost 30 years!!!

The sliding cover is nice, but I am not really impressed with its slashing ability. There isn't much blade exposed, and I usually have cut into the same slash mark several times to get it deep enough. I find that it's usually easier to just use a sharp serrated knife (I haven't tried the lame). I bought this awhile ago, and I'd be lying if I said I never used it, but that's mostly because I keep it next to my oven, not because it's the most effective tool.
