You won’t believe how often you use this scale.

One postage stamp, or two? Weigh your letter. 4-ounce serving of meat? Weigh it out. And when you’re baking, you just can’t beat the ease and accuracy of a scale, compared to volume measurements. Features include the following:

  • Add-and-weigh (tare) lets you add ingredients in sequence.
  • Automatic shutoff (a nice, long 4 minutes).
  • Weighs up to 11 pounds (5kg) in decimal increments (.1, .2) rather than fractions (1/8, 1/4).
  • Weighs in .1-ounce/1g increments.
  • 5-year limited warranty.
CONSUMERS DIGEST BEST BUY! Featured in the December 2006 issue of Consumers Digest magazine, this Escali scale was chosen as a "Best Buy" in the economy kitchen scale category. Fewer than 3% of competing products in any given category are awarded this designation. Consumer Digest called the Escali scale "an easy-to-use scale that allows for all of the necessary weighing options."

I bought the red (non-chrome) version of this scale some years back for weighing green coffee beans before roasting them. Since then I have put it to work for other tasks as well, including weighing ingredients for cooking. Despite the modest price, I have found this product accurate, and utterly reliable. So, buy this scale, and find the ingredient weight list elsewhere on KAF's web site. Print it out and laminate it. Do NOT waste money on a much more expensive scale that purports to do the volume to weight conversion for you, as you will have to spend more time and effort looking up and remembering special codes to enter into that more expensive scale. It is a lot simpler to buy this cheap scale, and learn how much a cup of flour weighs. I'm guessing that if I tell you a cup of flour weighs approx. 4.2 ounces, you are smart enough to figure out what half a cup weighs, or 3 cups weigh, without taking your shoes off and smelling up the kitchen whilst counting on your toes.

Great scale- and a bargain! Love the tare feature. I'm relatively new to yeast baking and am finding that weighing the flour is very important. This makes it easy!

I adore this scale, and hope I never have to measure anything ever again--no fuss, no scooping, no leveling, NO MESS! This scale is the best in that I can put a bowl on it, clear out the weight, put the first thing in, reset it, put the next in, etc and whoa, what a time saver! And I've found this to be much more accurate for sure...Best product and the least price--what more could you want!!!

OMG! I will, never, ever, EVER measure ingredients out by volume again! This scale is very easy to use and tare out containers with. And such a price! I started to use it right away, along with the SAF Red yeast and my baking life changed radically. Every recipe, once I made thse two changes, turned out perfectly and predictably. Weighing goes so much faster than the volume method! I am using the two "artisan bread in five minutes" books by Jeff Herzberg and Zoe Francois. and having a baking blast! Next I have to get my hangs on that white whole wheat flour and KAF's new wholw grain bakong book :-)

This is my second kitchen scale; my firt was an old one bought at a yard sale at it was awful. I LOVE this new scale. I use it for baking, for weighing and portioning meat, pasta, vegs, etc. The tare feature makes it so simple to measure for baking ......... I am so glad I purchased this; I use it nearly every day.

Though this scale is the least expensive of the scales offered, I can't imagine a better buy. I was skeptical of weighing ingredients but it makes all the differance in the world and I appreciate KAF including weights in their recipes. After some disappointing results and reading my KAF cookbook on the "whys" of weight versus cup measuring, I'm a convert. It is so simple and no messy measuring cups and flour all over your counter. You can simply spoon your flour directly into your mixing bowl, reset the scale and measure out more. I even weigh the honey and orange juice. it's one of the best purchases you will ever make! Don't let the price fool you. This is a great item, even if it is the less expensive scale offered!

I can't believe how much and in how many ways I've used this scale. My husband bought it for me two years ago, and it has worked hard. I've weighed meat as I divide up "family packs" to freeze, used it for portion control, weighing ingredients when ounces or grams, rather than cups, were called for, carted it to an a school for weeks where students used it to weigh balsa-wood projects, and my husband even tried to weigh the baby with it! This scale has worked hard and is still like new. It's a great product, and I don't know what I did before I had it.
