Espresso powder: the secret ingredient in your chocolate specialties.

Espresso powder is a must-have ingredient if you bake with chocolate. Here’s why:

  • Espresso powder is chocolate's best friend. Use 1/2 to 2 teaspoons in chocolate baked goods, frostings, and sauces; a touch of espresso powder enhances chocolate's flavor without adding any coffee flavor of its own.
  • Ground, brewed, then dried from specially selected coffee beans, powder readily dissolves for easy mixing.
  • For mocha flavor, use 2 teaspoons or more; or use espresso powder on its own to add clean, strong coffee flavor to frostings, bars, cakes, & cookies.
  • 2-ounce container, about 1 cup.
TEST KITCHEN TIP: Chocolate and coffee go together like… well, like chocolate and vanilla. Both vanilla and coffee highlight chocolate’s deep, rich flavor – without imparting any but the faintest hint of their own flavor. Add a teaspoon or two of espresso powder to your favorite brownie, chocolate chip cookie, devil’s food cake, or other chocolate recipe, and taste what a difference it makes – your chocolate will sing! The proof is in the tasting; enjoy Our Best Brownie Recipe Ever.

Love this powder, but how do you keep it from hardening in the jar?? I store it in the plastic jar it comes in!!
I put the plastic container in a zip lock bag, burp all the air out, and stick it in my freezer. that seems to help. If it has hardened, I grate off what I need using a micro plane. Hope this helps. Mary@ KAF

I used this product for the first time in an icing for cinnamon rolls. I did not dissolve it in a liquid (just added it straight to the dry ingredients) and it took quite some time for the powder to dissolve in this way. In fact, I saw "flavor crystals" in the icing and I didn't get that flavor punch I was looking for. For the second batch, I dissolved it in the milk I was using and WOW! Did that every bring out the flavor in every bite!

I ordered this onlilne and I was just wondering if it is supposed to arrive half empty. Just wondering. Thank You.
Espresso Powder is sold by weight so it will not fill the jar and may seem to be only half filled. JMD @KAF

This mixes so much better then the powder you buy in the supermarket. It also stays clump free.

This is a staple in my pantry. It's great in the chocolate ganache cupcake recipe created by certain famous TV chef. It adds that extra richness to brownies and I use it to punch up low calorie chocolate frappes also. Indispensible!

Secret ingredient INDEED! This is thee best espresso powder you'll find in regards to baking being neither to bitter or to mellow. It is extremely versatile, I've even used it in my morning protein shake to wake thing up a bit. This will not just sit in your cabinet untouched I assure you.

Great product! I made the black and white biscotti once with this in the chocolate layer and once without. This really makes chocolate even better!

Has an excellent flavor and I never bake anything chocolate without adding at least some espresso powder. My only complaint is that despite the apparently adequate packaging the product clumps easily and has to be pounded into particles.

This is my "Secret Ingredient" when making chocolate chip cookies. I put a half teaspoon in when creaming the sugar. Everyone thinks I use some special high cost chocolate chips.
