Once the novelty had worn off, I found it cumbersome to use, a space hog on the countertop, and adequate--not good--for storing bread. I'm having better luck these days storing bread cut-side down in an open plastic bag, which I re-use. It's more convenient and takes up less space. (Although it doesn't look as nice . . .)

While the bread keeper works well, it is made of very fragile plastic. My 5 year old knocked it off the counter and it shattered -- not safe with young children around.

I wasn't sure when I got this that it would really work well. The first time I used it I was surprised when the bread was feeling stale after a day and a half. Then I discovered that the vent was turned to the wrong setting. With the vent in the right spot its been surprisingly good since then. I've been using it to store the KA recipe toast and sandwich bread. and it keeps well in the plastic bread keeper.

I was so excited to receive this product but found that for both loaves of bread I put in it became moldy sooner than if I would have had it in a plastic bag. I would have expected this if I had the vents closed but they were open.

I love it! It makes my bread look so special, like it's on display on my counter.

I like this bread keeper. My bread stays fresh for days longer than in a plastic bag. I'm going to buy another!

Hi, I just got my bread keeper that my son had bought me sometime ago. It's a relief. This is an ant country, warm too. The BK is a blessing. But you know I am confused - I have wondered how does one's hands move with this? I am messing up a bit. Is there a YouTube demo I can see? Somehow I feel I am not getting the movements right and hence maybe not using it as smartly as I should be...
It is shipped in the closed position. One part slides into the other. To open it just slide one end out. Put the bread in and slide it closed. I'm sorry but we haven't put a video on YouTube, yet. Have fun with it. Mary @ KAF

My husband & I really liked this bread box with the slicing guide -- when we had it. Someone broke it. Really would like to buy a new one if there was a slicing guide... Guess I'll wait to see if KAF finds a comparable item.

I've had this break keeper for about 4 years. The prior model had a bread slicer and had holes but not this new vent. I haven't used the bread slicer in ages. It was not very even and most times I ended up slicing the plastic and messing up my bread knife. I have gotten used to cutting by hand, it just takes practice. However, if you are really picky about slicing, I've tried using an electric slicer. I make both loaf pan size and unformed (artisan) bread and this keeper holds both nicely.
