Thank you so much for your gluten free products. I purchased a box of the multi-purpose and the bread (couldn't afford more than one box) and the bread was fabulous of course because if was from King Arthur. I don't want to complain because I am thankful, but the probem I have is I would love to order a large amount on-line but with budget concerns there is no way I can afford the huge shipping charges. Isn't there a way as many businesses have done these days, if you order a certain amount, say $50.00> shipping is free??? When the shipping charges decline - I'll be ordering many times. Thanks again!

While I agree that the price is crazy, I have a four year old that longs to eat the same delicious tasting treats that her friends enjoy, and this flour offers her that. I made blueberry cake and cinnamon rolls that were amazingly good. PLEASE produce a larger quantity bag-then maybe the price could adjust slightly?Kudos to KAF for joining the GF world!

I used for the first time last night to make banana-raisin muffins. Amazing. They came out so good. Most GF mixes are crumbly or don't bake all the way through correctly. This was so close to what I remember normal baking to be like. I highly recommend. Only complaint is that the mixes aren't available in bags like the regular flour!

I got my KA GF flour and foraged ahead - Mary Ann was great on the chat because I wanted to use my bread machine. She suggested adding 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and I got great results. I of course didn't follow the recipe exactly - I used about 1/2 cup of the Ancient Grains I purchase from KA and it did give it a different texture and it tasted okay - but not great. I was a bit disappointed when today I wanted to try it again and this time follow the recipe exactly and I didn't have three cups left in the box - so I am ordering more. I will let you know if my adding 3/4 cup of brown rice flour 1/4 cup of potato starch and three tablespoons of Coconut flour (just because) make a successful loaf or not. Great products, great service, great chat keep up the good work - any suggestion would be to sell the GF flour in a bigger bag.

This is awesome! I was a bit surprised to see the negative comments on the price, but I guess to each their own. I do a lot of baking and I've experimented with just about everything out there available to me, and I have found this flour mix to be superior in its performance to all that I have tried, including more expensive flour blends. I think the price is right on with other flour blends I've bought, but with this flour mix I get great results so I'm actually saving money not having to toss things in the trash. Even my husband said my gluten free banana bread tasted better made with this flour mix versus the homemade flour mix I had been using with non-KA flours. I am online today to order more of this. I can't wait until my local store starts carrying it. Thank you for your hard work and a wonderfully performing, moderately priced flour mix!!

Wondering, why is this product more expensive online (never mind the shipping) than in the store?
We don't control the retail store pricing on any of our products. This is just one of those times when they were able to negotiate a very good price. Frank @ KAF.

Yes, the GF flour is expensive -- but so are other specialty KAF products. I bake GF for friends with celiac; it's not an everyday thing. But then, I don't bake cakes for my family every week either. I have used this flour to bake cakes, brownies and cookies with fabulous results. I have also used 2 other brands of GF flour that I purchased at a local store. The KAF flour is FAR superior, especially in texture. When I baked brownies, I made both regular and GF. I had to label them so that people could tell them apart! So you may not be able to use this flour every day. But when you do, it will be worth it.

I ordered several boxes of the all-purpose GF flour mix a month or so ago and had not had the time to try it out. I usually bake from scratch and use flour mixes or box mixes only on occasion. I also very rarely use white rice flour. My love of trying new things and King Arthur made me order the flour mix ASAP. Thank you KA for entering the foray of GF baking! I decided to try their bread recipe first. I was reluctant to use 3 eggs since GF bread baking with lots of eggs gives the finished product an off smell when reheated. I forged ahead instead, committed to trying the recipe as is and revising it the next time around. I used my Zojorushi vs. oven baking. During the mixing, I noted the dough was a bit dry, so I added 2 TBSP. of water. It was still a bit thick but I stopped myself from further altering the recipe. I just let the Zoj. do its thing and left the kitchen. During the baking cycle, the bread smelled delicious and was browning nicely. It slid from the pan easily without breaking the bottom. We served the bread warm with some homemade lentil soup. The bread was good but not great and tasted very similiar to some bread mixes I have tried in the past. It was moist, but not as moist as my loaves usually are. I knew it was going to be a rock the next day. It was. You have to toast the bread to make it palatable unless you finish the loaf in one sitting. This will never occur in our household. The bread also had that off smell GF breads get when you use a lot of eggs in your dough. I find this very offputting. The loaf looked pretty, as it rose and browned beautifully. I was hesitant to dock the product any stars since I only tried one recipe. I am going to try this flour mix in some muffins and pancake recipes of my own and see if I get better results. I also plan to try the bread recipe again with the following changes- sub in 1/4c of Teff flour & 1/2 c of millet flour for an equal amount of the KA flour and eliminate 2 eggs using flax meal and water instead. I will also increase the liquids slightly since the first loaf was dry. This should produce a softer, whole grain loaf with a better shelf life. I will report back with my results of the altered bread recipe and the flour used in other recipes.
We do recommend that you use a stand mixer for our bread recipe actually all of our gluten free recipes. You will have very different results. At sometime in the future we hope to develop a bread machine recipe but are still working on it. We really do appreciate all you comments as we are the new kids on the block with gluten free baking. Our test kitchen is really amazing to have developed the great recipes they have. But we know we have a long way to go so thank you for you comments. JMD @KAF

This stuff is great! I used it to make some hamburger buns and while baking, they SMELLED like bread! Yum! Hubby, who thinks this whole gluten-free thing stinks, had 2 buns. Will use again and buy again!

Love it! Bought it to make some carrot cake (recipe from the gluten-free baking book provided by KAF too), and it turned out tasting like regular wheat flour carrot cake! No one could tell it was gluten free. It wasn't falling apart or dense, like most gluten free products are. We also use it for breading when recipes call for it, and my husband, who isn't gluten intolerant, can't tell the difference between it and regular wheat flour breading. Wonderful stuff. <3
