Yes, you can get other brands of organic spelt at whole foods. But they simply do NOT compare to King Arthur's! KA's whole spelt has a beautiful light texture and a wonderful almost sweet, nutty flavor. We always add it to our pizza dough and our multi-grain bread. It's in a league of its own!

I received a new breadmaker and have been using it nearly every day with King Arthur flours. I add the spelt flour to ancient grains and bread flour for a tasty & healthy bread.

I didn't care for the flavor of the spelt flour... I gave it to a neighbor and she loved it said it was the best she's ever had... so I'm still giving it five stars.

While I will admit that this price is a bit steep for 16 oz (I can buy it locally from a whole foods store for a much better price), I still must say that this flour is PHENOM. I have completely killed white flour in my house and no cook only with spelt. It's nutty, nutritious, and responds just as whole wheat flour does (so you really need to stick with recipes that are for whole wheat breads, not white). I LOVE it for bread, tortillas, pitas, pizza crust, you name it! It's excellent all around.

I recently purchased the KAF Whole Grain Cookbook. I was skimming through the recipes and saw a recipe for pancakes made with spelt. Well, I had never even heard of spelt before!!! Since I am trying to integrate more whole grains into my diet - I thought I would give it a try. I was VERY pleased with the results. Even my husband liked them. I will definetely being using spelt flour again. It was wonderful!!

my husband objected to even the white whole wheat flour. but his aunt gave me a cup of this stuff and i made a batch of the spelt pancakes w it and he really enjoyed them! hey, there may be hope yet for whole grains! nice nutty flavor.

This stuff rocks! I purchased the Whole Grain Baking Book when I was diagnosed with Type 2 insulin resistant diabetes. All refined flours had to go so I got the book to see what I could substitute. The Spelt pancake recipe is the first in the book and we didn't get to the second page for months! I make up a dry mix of the spelt pancake mix and one cup of it in 7 oz of milk makes a high fiber, whole grain carbohydrate serving for two at dinner. Way to go KAF!
