We were so excited to receive this after waiting for it to be taken off back-order. Our sourdough starter was in an awkward sized bowl, so we were excited to move it into this perfectly sized and shaped container. We received it yesterday, and after transferring the starter last night, it slipped and crashed on the floor, destroying both the crock and the starter. We're even more sad now as we lost our starter, too.

I was so excited to finally get this crock set after waiting for months to purchase it. The lid slides around easily because it needs to be loose-fitting. The nature of the starter requires that it be put it and out of the refrigerator often for feeding. Even though I was oh-so-careful, the lid crashed to the floor once and I caught it, but spilled the starter all over myself in the process. The second time it happened, the lid crashed to the floor and broke into small pieces. I called KAF and wanted to order just the lid (because the crock/lid is pricey) but they said I would need to order the crock and lid together. I was advised to use epoxy to repair the lid but that was unsuccessful because of how many pieces it broke into. I am disappointed because all had gone well with my new sourdough bread endeavor up to that point... Apart from this difficulty, I have always been very pleased with my many purchases from KAF.

Received the crock by mail this March... The red paint is already chipping off. Kind of pricey for poor quality finish.

I Have owned this for a few years, love the size. Hate the lip on the lid it's too small, it is hard to carry the crock and not have the lid fall off. I would love if you'd make one the same size but with a bigger lip on the lid, so it doesn't slip off.

Perfect sized crock to hold my sourdough starter. I was away for two weeks and the contents were just fine when I returned to feed it. That makes me a happy camper!

I have arthritis really bad and I always have to practically break the crock to get the lid unstuck from the base every time I try to open it! Waaaa!!! I am sorry this is not working out for you. Please give customer service a call at 800.827.6836 and we would be happy to refund or exchange this for another item.
