Does beat the foil method, but mine seemed to have stuck to the pumpking pie. Still I would use it again and again.

for 9-10 inch pies nly. does not work on 8 inch pie crusts.

For years my Pumpkin Pies have needed something to get the high temps needed for flaky bottom crust and not burning the crust...this shield works great. Superior results!

I, too, was tired of dealing with home-made foil strips that fall off (or fall in the custard pie, ruining the surface). This is a great product. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the inside edge is quite sharp, as another reviewer mentioned.

I got tired of burning my fingers trying to apply strips of foil the the edges of my pies. They always overbrowned without it. Buying this item made my life a lot easier- I liked it so much I bought one for my daughter! Great item!

I've had this item over a year and its never failed to give a perfectly browned crust. I'm ordering more as gifts.

I have tried these shields several times and had overly brown edges each time. I was very disappointed.

I can't imagine baking a pie without these shields. They do away with the problem of overcooking the edges of your pie. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is that you have to be careful with the inside edge - it is a bit sharp.
