Easy to grind your own

Freshly ground grain tastes great, and provides nutritional benefits absent in flour that’s been sitting awhile. And it’s easy to grind your own with Nutrimill, the best electric grain mill we tested.

  • Manufacturer’s test data says it’s the world’s quietest impact grain mill.
  • Innovative cooling system keeps grain cool as it grinds, protecting nutrients. Cooler milling also protects mill's motor.
  • World’s first variable high-speed mill motor works faster, and offers greater grind adjustment.
  • Grinds from super-fine (finest we tested) to coarse; 400% range of grind adjustment is 10 times greater than other mills.
  • Huge capacity: grinds up to 20 cups (about 5 pounds) of flour in just 15 minutes.
  • 1 to 1 milling ratio: 1 hopper of grain = 1 cup of flour.
  • Surgical stainless steel micro-burst milling heads grind wheat, rye, oat groats, spelt, barley, quinoa, millet, triticale, buckwheat, rice, split peas, popcorn, sorghum, dried beans (not coffee), dried lentils, dried sweet corn, kamut, soybeans, and chickpeas.
  • Simple storage - hopper extension fits into flour bowl.

I have had my Nutrimill for almost 8 years now. I love it. It is by far quieter than other mills I have used and there is no mess. I have seen people post that theirs makes a mess, but they must not have it put together, or the bowl pushed in. I highly recommend this mill. Especially if you are Gluten Free. It is way cheaper to grind your own rice and bean flours.

I've had this grain mill for a couple of years now and I really like it. I was not a fan of whole wheat until I tried milling my own hard white wheat berries and now I'm a convert. I make a couple of loaves of bread per week (I use the pain de mie pan so they're pretty big). I also make whole wheat pita bread and wheat thins too (recipes in the KAF whole grains cookbook). I have a paintbrush that I keep on hand to dust all the parts of my mill so I don't have to wash everything each time I use it. I had some trouble with my Nutrimill's motor earlier this year and the company fixed it and sent it back with zero hassle. It has a lifetime warranty and the company really stands behind their product. Very rare to find these days. While my mill was being fixed I borrowed my friend's Wondermill. It was so much faster than my Nutrimill! That would be my only complaint about this machine. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes to do 10 cups of flour (ground fairly fine. It is much faster at grinding coarsely. The slow speed is the only reason I'm not giving this five stars. All in all I would highly recommend this mill. Also, I've found that the cheapest place to buy wheat berries in bulk (both red and white) is from the canneries run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They will sell to anybody, not just members.

My neighbors and I share expensive items like tools and less-frequently-used kitchen appliances and I've been using this Nutrimill lately to make chicken feed from grains and legumes, some of which we grow; and yes, it grinds beans and split peas etc. and has a "meal" function (if anyone has ever bought the drywall-like pellets that pass as chicken feed from your average feed store, you will not laugh at me). This is a fantastic product and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Do take care of it as recommended and it will last a long time, I hear. If cost is a factor, try to find a few like-minded friends or neighbors to split the cost, and write out an agreement about how long it stays at each person's house. This has worked great for us.

My wife made this my Christmas gift. Just made my first 2 breads from hard red wheat. I now love 100% whole wheat bread. Yes, I could buy alot of flour for what it cost--- but fresh is fresh.

I purchased the Nutrimill before I discoverd KAF. I have had it for 3 years and use it several times a week to grind hard white Montana wheat for 100% whole wheat bread, pastry berries for pancakes and muffins as well as corn for fresh cornmeal. It produces about the same amount of sound as a vacuum cleaner. The flour is rich in nutrients and smells like a fresh cut wheat field. I had a problem a few years ago with the milling heads. I called the company, talked to a real person on the first ring and received a new machine in the mail within a few days. I would highly recommend this product.

I have had my Nutrimill for over two years and love it! I am a Type 2 diabetic and purchased the Nutrimill so that I could grind flour to bake and reclaim items I needed to limit in my diet that contained flour such as bread, muffins , cookies, pizza etc. Flour ground from wheat berries contain germ and endosperm which slow down the sugar process in the blood compared to items baked with bleached or unbleached flour. By baking my own items with ground wheat I can control what goes into the items such as artifical sweetner vs. regular sugar, the amount of salt, I could use items with lower fat content plus I can control the portion size of the muffins, cookies and even the size of the slices of bread. I did find it difficult to find information on the recommendations of what ratio of berries (hard red spring or hard red winter vs. soft white berries) are best for what baked item. I did do a lot of searching and did find a suggested combination of wheats for all-purpose flour. I am experimenting with my own combination to see if I can improve on that suggested combination. Rising can be an issue as the germ and endosperm pierce the gas that must form for the breads and doughs to rise. I purchased dough doublers from King Arthur that has snap on lids and this helps greatly to ensure the success of my breads rising properly. I find making Italian style loaves work best for me but I will be trying regular loaves once I have more time to experiment with various recipes. I do grind flour ahead and I do store it in the freezer until I need it. With a little planning ahead of what you are going to bake and when, the Nutrimill will help you eat much healthier. The health benefits way out weigh the noise of grain grinding and clean up, which to me is not bad at all. Whole grains and fresh baked are so much better tasting then store bought!

I have had my Nutrimill for 5 years and use it all the time. I don't have Mary's problem with a mess. You may try removing the lid over a sink in case of dust from grinding and I don't take it apart for cleaning each time I use it, but I do use it often. Of course fresh ground wheat is the best, but fresh ground corn meal (popcorn) is amazing. You will not get that taste from any pre-packaged ground meal. I love this mill. Now, if we could get KAF to sell grains in large quantities...

It is a bit larger than it looks in the picture but you have to remember it will hold about 20 cups of flour. It is super fast. I use mine very often. The flour is flesh and tastes wonderful. I set mine on the "2 o'clock" position to get the best flour for bread making. It is a little noisy but it is only on for a few minutes. It is not that bad. There is no mess with this mill and it is extremely easy to us. My 12 year old uses it! Highly recommend it.

I have been grinding for at least 8 years with my Nutrimill. I purchased mine somewhere else. I use my mill on a regular basis almost daily for hard red, white, soft white, oats, and corn. I occasionally grind rye, Kamut and Spelt. I make a 4-loaf batch at least once a week. That is at least 12-15 cups of flour. Along with bread I also regularly make scones, pancakes, flat breads, pizza, corn bread and occasional cookie. I love it. It is noisy but I think it is quicker and produces more flour faster than some of the other mills that my friends use. Also I did have a small problem with the casing a few years ago I called the manufacture and they replaced licitly split ïŠ I would definitely recommend the Nutrimill.

I have used this mill for over a year now to grind wheat, popcorn and several types of beans and I haven't had a single problem with it. I grind wheat at least once a week and popcorn for cornmeal at least once a month. I bought a soft bristle paint brush that I keep with my mill and use it to sweep out the extra flour from the inside of the lid and bowl for easy cleaning. Store extra flour in the freezer for longer shelf life. Easy to use with no flour dusting all over your kitchen.
