I have the Salter model 1006 and it just stopped working. After replacing the batteries, all I get in the window is the letter E.
What can I do to resolve the problem?

I bought this scale about One year ago. I love it! Easy functions. Perfect size, light weight, easy to store, removeable plate for clean up. The numbers are clear and simple to read.

I also have battery problems. Have had for three months and battery has died twice. I don't use it very often - guess I will have to take battery out after use.

I have had this scale (older model) and it is great. Use it all the time. I have placed it in a zip lock bag and that solves my problem of spills and dust from all ingredients. Change battery every year.

I have to agree with Karen from Florida. I have had a Salter scale (Model 2006) for years but it goes unused because of the exact problem Karen spelled out in her review. I came here to find a replacement and was surprised to see this review. The problem can be fixed by removing the batteries and re-inserting them, kind of a hard reset but this is annoying. If it weren't for this I would prefer this scale over any other and was hoping to replace mine with a newer model thinking I had a fluke problem. Now I believe that this may be something latent in the design or parts Salter uses.

This was suppose to be MY scale. Used for 18 months. Love it. Kids took it to the barn to weigh the grain for their dairyshow heifers. They love it (kids that is heifers, I didn't ask) It is used in very dusty conditions and about 20 times a day. No problems. Today I order a new for me.

I just came back to my desk from the test kitchen, where I was making granola - LOTS of ingredients. Loved having this scale, my favorite. Just set my big bowl on top, and poured in the oats, wheat germ, nuts, coconut, oil, vanilla, maple syrup... one right after the other, taring after each. No measuring cups; no cleanup. SO SO easy.

When the scale works it is wonderful, but some scales they send out have an electronic problem. Reviews on other websites mention this. After about 3 months of twice a week use (I weigh bread machine ingredients) the scale refused to do anything but say "EE". After a confusing call to the help number I had to send the scale back on my dime (cost about $7.50). They did send a replacement in about a month and no problems so far this week. And although the scale does have a warranty against this very problem I am not happy that I have to pay shipping to get it there and spend a month without a scale.
