I have used these mostly for icing but also occasionally for cakes, and I am very happy with them. I haven't noticed any change in taste, and the colors are much brighter and more intense than anything I ever got with food coloring. My only complaint is that I've still got a bunch of brown and black but had to order another set because I was out of the other colors, but that's not KAF's fault. I've since seen the colors sold individually in a local cake/candy supply store, so next time I'll buy single bottles as needed rather than order a whole new set. Wish KAF offered that option.

Yay... I can finally help others when you all have given me so much. I tried Amazon looking for a greater range of colors and found TCPGlobal.com. Although it looks like a car paint company, there is a subsidiary called US Cake. ww.tcpglobal.com/cake/soft_gels.aspx This link will take you to the list of available colors in 3 or 4 sizes. They also carry sets and larger sizes of colored sugars. Happy hunting.

I saw a product like this used by Martha S. to color Easter eggs. It was a video presentation but she didn't indicate how much of the concentrated color she used. My past (long ago) experience and her video tell me that egg dye solutions look very dark which would make it quite difficult to mix colors for the desired hue. Any suggestions? I think individual bottles are available at a store in Chapel Hill. I saw boxed 4-bottle assortments at Michaels - Regular (red, green, blue, yellow) and pastel (actually more hot colors than pastel). Carolyn

These colors work well. You'll need to use more than you think to get a good, strong coloring. It would be great if they were available in large sizes of single colors.
