I almost ordered this especially since it is on sale. But I cannot bring myself to purchase yet another Chinese export. We need to keep our workers employed and must get that deficit down. OK, I am down off the soapbox now!
We value our customer opinions and have added yours to the customer observations for this product as well as a reference to future stoneware and baking supply purchases. Irene @ KAF

This is a perfect compliment to the round celtic knot baker, which I love using. I'd be happier if the newer one was made in the US as the other bakers.

I have looked at this beautiful dish so many times and almost bought it, until I read the reviews again and again and see that people feel as I do. Not only don't I trust China for health reasons, but I live near Savannah, Ga and I see the ships coming from China stacked so high with merchandise that we are buying from them, but when the ship leaves to go back home, there is hardly anything on it that China is exporting from us. They aren't playing fair. Until then, unless I absolutely have to, I won't buy from China. KAF after all these reviews, can't you please find another company. I have bakeware I bought from you from Chantal, I am sure they had something like this, even if it costs a few dollars more, we wouldn't worry about lead poisoning., or that some 6 year old worked in a sweat-shop making it. Sorry this review is kind of harsh, I apologize if I offended anyone. We look far and wide for the best performing products, and test them for the home baker in our test kitchens in Vermont. It is our mission to provide our customers with the highest quality and most dependable products we can find, and those products come from both domestic and international sources. We value the opportunity to source domestically when possible, and do not do so exclusively. We still carry items from Chantel, but they don't have a shortbread pan.YDC @ KAF

I would SO like to buy this product, but due to the fact that it was made in China, I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm hesitant to use anything made in China for cooking/eating.

The Irish soda bread was the best that I have had in years. And the baking dish is just perfect for the bread and other baking needs. Love the green color and the handles are easy to hold onto. I recommend this product to anybody who likes good Irish soda bread.

I bought this product to accompany the round Celtic baker I bought last year. I make my own dinnerware and it matches in color. I also would rather a product from the USA. My Irish Soda bread tastes great in any shape. I substitute whole wheat flour for the white flour and it is great. More products in this color would be appreciated - especially if made in the USA - sure!

I gave this item 3 stars for the shape, design, color and size of this baker.I will have to slide into cabinet on it's side to store as the handles are not stack friendly but very nice for in and out of oven.I too, wish that I had read the reviews before purchasing.Would not have bought if I had...for 2 reasons. While it is almost impossible to avoid "made in China" products and I would prefer to put our folks to work,we also have to be wary of the glazes that are used on ceramic ware that will be used for food prep. Food safe glazes do not contain lead as is allowed for decorative items that will obviously not be used for eating or cooking food from. I had this problem with some crocks that came with a parrot cage from Mexico. It was advised to throw away the crocks "DO NOT USE" because of lead that was discovered in the glaze. Would you be able to reassure us that is not the case with this adorable baker?
