BLEACH in your birthday cake? Perish the thought!
Bake a delicious, all-natural cake, free of added chemicals, with King Arthur Unbleached Cake Flour.
- Other national brands of cake flour use the chemical action of added bleach to produce cakes with an ultra-fine texture and an artificially white color. King Arthur has combined the all-natural benefits of unbleached flour with the performance characteristics needed for high-quality cakes. The result? A flour blend that produces a medium-fine texture cake, moist and flavorful, with absolutely no added chemicals.
- Recipes for Tender White Cake and Moist Chocolate Cake included.
- 2-pound box.

Just used this today to make some yellow cupcakes and they came out beautifully. Not greasy or heavy at all. I could sense that the texture was not as fine as with bleached cake flour, but it was a negligible difference. I'm not sure why, but this seemed to make cupcakes that were noticeably more flavorful. The butter and vanilla flavors came through strong and clean. I don't think this flour would work well for chiffon or angel food cakes, but for your typical American style cakes such as Devil's Food, Red Velvet, and Yellow, it should work nicely. I also think this would make some killer light-as-a-cloud biscuits! This will be a repurchase for me.

Not recommended for angel food cake! My cake was 2" shorter than normal and very dense. Disappointing. I still love the unbleached idea and will try other recipes, just not angel food!

I made the white cake off the box and found the cake dense and greasy. On a positive note my daughter thought it taste like cornbread and as a savory item she liked it.

I used this KAF for red-velvet cupcakes. These treats came out the best ever - light and perfectly moist! The health nut in our office ate two and wanted a third - too bad they were all gone!

I made a coconut cake from a recipe I found at Epicurious and it turned out fabulous! The cake was rich and moist and was a huge hit! Thank you for making a wonderful product that contains no bleach!

I used this for a chocolate roll cake, a recipe I have made many times, always searching for the perfect flour that will give a moist, fine-grained, easily rolled cake with good flavor. This flour passed the test with flying colors!

I have heard that using unbleached cake flours in recipes that call for bleached cake flour results in greasy heavy cakes with a coarse grain
It's true....generally when cakes are made with unbleached flour in a recipe that calls for cake flour, the results may be heavy and greasy. Our KAF cake blend will give a soft medium fine cake crumb and will not be heavy or greasy. Irene @ KAF

I am excited to try this out. I have always wondered why there are no unbleached cake flours.
