Very fast and easy. Spread very easily on the layer cake. Good vanilla flavor and texture - just a bit too sweet for my taste.

Most mixes have an after-taste but this mix is close to the real thing. You can never beat homemade buttercream but when you're in a rush this does the trick. My husband, who is my official taster and connoisseur of buttercream, agrees that it's pretty good. Using KAF vanilla cake mix I made muffins topped with the buttercream...delicious. The cake mix is great too...very light, moist and no after-taste.

My husband liked this a lot; I liked it, but I haven't found a vanilla frosting that I consider 'perfect' yet. I'll keep looking, but this is a good choice if I need something in the meantime. I made it with all butter, but shortening can also be used, either alone or in combination with the butter. It's certainly faster than a from-scratch Swiss or Italian buttercream!

I am not a prepared foods person; I make everything from scratch. Every year we stop at King Arthur on our way to our fall holiday in Canada. I do not know why I decided to try the vanilla buttercream frosting mix since I usually pass right by the boxed items. I made the frosting for a chocolate cake, and I was so impressed. It was fluffy, flavorful, not gritty or chemical tasting. I liked it so much, I ordered several more and will continue to do so. I still like and make my from scratch frostings, but when I am in a hurry, I know I have an excellent product in my pantry.
