Did not like the taste AT ALL. DOES NOT TASTE LIKE VANILLA. Or even sugar, for that matter. Sent KA an email, waiting on a response. Dough is easy to work with but taste is NOT AT ALL what I was expecting. If I wanted cute but not-tasty cookies, I'd go to the bakery at the supermarket. And yes I whipped the butter for several minutes before proceeding.

There is a horrible after taste with these. I even tried again thinking maybe it was the butter but still was there and threw the whole batch out again.
Please call our customer service for help with this problem. Joan D @KAF

I'm surprised at the inconsistency of the reviews! I usually bake up a storm at Christmas time. This year for several reasons I was just not into it. I had the mix on hand as a "cheat" if I absolutely had to make something. I mixed it up after Christmas to bring to a party and have never gotten so many compliments. I made another batch and brought them to work and the same thing! People just raving about these cookies! I used the sparkling sugar as decoration and kept it simple. I came online tonight to buy more mix for Valentines Cookies for the college swim team. Aren't they lucky!!

I bake frequently but always have had difficulty with shaped cookies and I shy away from mixes. In frustration I used this mix at Christmas-time and I loved it; I purchased the eggnog flavoring and the sparkle glitter for the cookies. Not only did the cookies look great but they tasted good as well (& stayed moist). I used a stoneware baking pan and the edges didn't turn brown. I plan on purchasing more of the mix and making some Valentine Day cookies. Now my cookie cutters aren't collecting dust!

Best sugar cookie, ever! I roll them out thicker than suggested and also use parchment paper on baking sheets. they come out softer(which is our preference.) a great cookie for all cutouts!

My Christmas cookies were a little hard out of the oven, but I frosted them with buttercream frosting and the next day they were wonderful!! Softened up and delicious - and this was after letting the dough (wrapped up tightly) sit in the refrigerator for a couple of days - I forgot about it.

My son received the mix for a Christmas present from his Grandma (a huge KAF fan). I followed the instructions, added fresh ingredients, and the dough turned out dry and un-workable. We had to throw the whole batch away, they wouldn't even form into drop cookies. Very disappointing for my 4 year-old who was looking forward to making cutout cookies.
We are so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the mix. Please phone customer service for assistance.

I made two kinds of cookies over the holidays. The VSCM taste was delicious however they turned out hard as a rock(I told people to use them as dipping cookies to soften them). Not sure what happened as my Linzer cookies were out of this world. Perhaps they were in the oven too long?
Over baking can definitely result in hard cookies. Try cutting the time you baske them. Mary @ KAF
