Make your own Greek-style thick yogurt at home.

The Wave yogurt cheese maker drains whey from yogurt in one simple step.

  • Use the Wave to make extra-thick, creamy, Greek-style yogurt.
  • Simply spoon yogurt (low-fat is fine) into the Wave, cover, and let drain overnight. For thicker yogurt, let drain for 48 hours.
  • Thickened yogurt—"yogurt cheese"—is a great substitute for cream cheese or sour cream.
  • Makes wonderful tzatziki!

I love this yogurt cheese maker. I have found it easy to use and it makes fabulous yogurt cheese that can easily be substituted for cream cheese on bagels with a lot more nutrition. Simply make the yogurt, cool in the refrigerator, then pour into the cheese maker for anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours, depending on how thick you like your cheese.

I was given this as a gift and use it all the time. It's so easy, neat and easy to clean. I use low fat yogurt - put in and let drain over night and the next morning I've got a great yogurt that's closer to Greek yogurt in texture with none of that watery run off. I'm sure a coffee filter works - but this is so much easier and I wouldn't be without this again.

Why pay $22 when a manual drip coffee filter works perfectly fine? Multi-use gadgets are better.
Yes multi use gadgets are nice-but I have to say this is my all-time favorite tool. I like the stainless steel drain and the fact that it is easily covered to put in the refrigerator for draining. Joan@bakershotline

This strainer is great! We use the YoGourmet yogurt maker and make large batches of wonderful yogurt every couple of weeks. We take some of each batch and use this strainer to produce sour cream and cream cheese consistencies. It works best on the counter top. The reservoir in the bottom is shallow and needs to be poured off a few times during the process, and that's not easily done when it's in the fridge.

This product is wonderful. I found it's compact design a delight. I make yogurt twice a week use this product to lynch most of what I make into yocheese. The results are thick and creamy. There is no messy cheeseclothes, and cleaning the filter is a breeze. I bought a second maker for my sister-in-law.

I have really enjoyed this item. I used to make my yogurt cheese in a bag and had to hang it over the sink, a messy and labor job. Now when I make my yogurt, I just make put extra milk in the pot, boil, let cool, add old yogurt and pop in the oven for a day. When the yogurt is done, I put half away in the frig and put half in the cheese maker. In a day, I have a yogurty cheese, in two I have a much thicker cheese. I plop it out in a bowl, cover in keep in th frig. I know it will keep for at least 2 weeks. but it's always eaten before I see how long it would last. I use 2%, 1% OR WHOLE milK> EACH HAS WORKED OUT FINE> 1% never gets really thick. 2% is great.

What KAF should do is get Tupperware to use their mold for their first microwave steamer, and make you a good yogurt cheese maker. For years I used mine and it works perfectly - A coffee filter went into the strainer insert, yogurt in that, the snap lid kept the whole thing from absorbing refrigerator flavors. Then I melted the lid in the diswasher and discovered that Tupperware no longer makes the product. How about it KAF? It's the steamer insert that is the critical part.
I'm sure their mold is proprietary, but thanks for the suggestion. Mary @ KAF

Where I live (not US) yogurt is full fat but is not thick at all. That's why the first time I used this tool the yogurt passed quickly through the sieve. I was disappointed. But then I thought of freezing the yogurt first and then put the cubes in the box. I let it stand in the refrigerator and the refrigerator does all the job. I have now the most thick and creamy yogurt or cheese (the longer you leave it in the refrig., the thicker it will be). I am very happy with the results. I do not know honestly if this cheese maker will last long (That's why 4 stars), I have used it only few times, but I prefer it because it looks very neat. Thanks.

I had the same issues as the previous reviewer. I now use a reusable coffee strainer and that works fine for less money to invest.

Useful, but does not hold up to repeated normal use. 1. The fine stainless mesh begins to pull away from the plastic after a few weeks of use. 2. The mesh is also not fine enough to hold quality European style yogurt which is a more a pourable, creamier consistency. Yogurt solids seep through the mesh, while you really only want to capture the yogurt liquid (whey). The cheap plastic mesh funnel set does a better job, but you have to use both cones for a 16oz carton of yogurt and there is no covered container provided. The funnels also take up extra fridge space, which is why I purchased the Wave--more convenient, less space required in the fridge, and a covered container. The Wave Yogurt Cheese Maker is an excellent concept, but this product definitely needs further design modifications. I'd pay a little more for a sturdier product with a finer mesh that holds *ALL* types of yogurt. The non-fat European style yogurt that I use and prefer actually tastes like cream cheese when all of the liquid is removed. It's flavorful, it's tangy, it's absolutely delicious without the fat and calories! Makes an excellent spread for sandwiches or a base for dips, dressings, and sauces. Those of us who love yogurt cheese really need a better quality product.
