Glazed Doughnuts

Our baked doughnut mixes are packaged in 2 stay-fresh 8-oz. pouches; each makes 6 doughnuts, 24 mini doughnuts, or about 30 doughnut holes. Note: you must have a doughnut pan, mini doughnut pan, doughnut hole pan or swirl bundtlette pan to make these mixes. Glaze is not included.

Easy Vanilla Glaze
  1. 1 1/4 cups (5 ounces) confectioners' sugar or glazing sugar, sifted to remove any lumps
  2. 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  3. 1 tablespoon melted butter
  4. 1 to 2 tablespoons milk or water
  5. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Stir the ingredients together, adding extra liquid or confectioners' sugar to adjust the consistency as needed

Yield: about 1/2 cup glaze

Chocolate Glaze
  1. 1/2 cup (3 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  2. 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) butter
  3. 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon light corn syrup
  4. 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt the ingredients together over low heat or in the microwave, stirring often

Add extra corn syrup if needed to make a smooth, shiny glaze

Yield: about 1/2 cup glaze

Cider Glaze
  1. 2 tablespoons (3/4 ounce) bottled boiled cider
  2. 1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) heavy cream
  3. 1 cup (4 ounces) confectioners' or glazing sugar

Stir all of the ingredients together, adding additional sugar or cream if needed to make the glaze the consistency of molasses

Dip top of doughnuts in glaze, or drizzle glaze over doughnuts

Yield: about 1/2 cup glaze

Coconut Glaze
  1. 1 cup glazing sugar or confectioners' sugar
  2. 2 to 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  3. 1/8 teaspoon coconut flavor

Whisk the ingredients together until smooth, adding cream until glaze is the consistency of molasses

Dip top of doughnuts in glaze, or drizzle glaze over doughnuts

Yield: about 1/2 cup glaze

Instructions
  1. Dip doughnuts into glaze, removing excess with a spatula; stir glaze often while using, to prevent it from stiffening up.
  2. Top with the decoration of your choice - sprinkles, colored sugar, nonpareils, finely chopped nuts, coconut, etc. - immediately after glazing, as the glaze hardens quickly.
  3. Allow glaze to set before serving doughnuts.
