Sugar-Stamped Vanilla Sugar Cookies

When you want to take your ordinary sugar cookies to the next level, but don't have the decorating skills of a professional, our solution involves just a little sugar and stamps. These cookies are pleasantly sparkly and decorative, with a crunchy sugar coating.

Ingredients
  1. 1 box Vanilla Sugar Cookie Mix
Instructions
  1. Prepare and chill the mix according to package instructions.
  2. Preheat the oven to 300°F. Lightly grease two baking sheets, or line with parchment.
  3. Working with one piece of dough at a time, flour both sides of the dough. Roll it 1/4" thick.
  4. Lightly grease cookie stamps, and dip into plain granulated sugar, or the colored or flavored granulated sugar of your choice.
  5. Press the stamps into the dough and cut out the stamped cookies using a 2 3/4" to 3" round or fluted cutter. Transfer the cookies to parchment-lined or lightly greased baking sheets.
  6. Bake the cookies for 25 to 30 minutes, or until they're lightly browned on the bottom and around the edges.
  7. Remove from the cookies from the oven, and cool completely on a rack.

Yield: 2 to 2 1/2 dozen 2 3/4" to 3" cookies.
