Red & White (or Black & White) Cookies

Our white icing mix is an easy shortcut to a lot of fun holiday cookie decorating. Whether you're intricately detailing rollout sugar cookies, or slathering traditional NYC deli cookies with multi-colored sweetness, this mix will certainly make getting to the fun part quick and easy.

White Cookie Icing

Combine 1 cup of the mix with 1 tablespoon milk, stirring until smooth and adding more milk, a teaspoon at a time, until the glaze is the consistency of molasses or honey.

Colored Cookie Icing

Color one batch of white icing with 8 to 10 drops red food coloring.

Chocolate Cookie Icing

In the microwave, or in a pan set over very low heat, melt 1/4 cup of chopped semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, or chocolate chips. Combine the melted chocolate, 1 cup icing mix, and 1 tablespoon milk, stirring until smooth and adding more milk, a teaspoon at a time, until the glaze is the consistency of molasses or honey.

Decorating
  1. Spread one color/flavor of icing over half of each cookie. Allow the icing to set for 5–10 minutes, then spread a second color/flavor of icing over the second half of each cookie.
  2. Place the cookies on a rack and allow them to rest until the icing is set, about 30 minutes.
