King Arthur Flour’s Nationwide Cookie Decorating Contest Gives $7,500 to Charity
Grand-Prize Winner Selects Rhode Island Community Food Bank as Recipient of $5,000 Prize
Norwich, Vermont – December 29, 2014 – Home baker Katrin Schnippering, of Barrington, Rhode Island, is the grand-prize winner of King Arthur Flour's 2014 Cookie Decorating Contest.
Her gingerbread man tangled-up in lights was selected as the grand-prize winner out of nearly 225 nationwide entries. As the grand-prize winner, Schnippering selected Rhode Island Community Food Bank as the food related charity to receive a $5,000 donation.
“This prize will help us provide healthy food to more than 63,000 people every month,” said Rhode Island Community Food Bank CEO Andrew Schiff. “Our organization relies on support from the community and it means so much to us that someone took the time to enter this unique and creative contest.”
“Katrin's cookie was sweet and artfully executed,” said King Arthur Flour Baker and Blogger MaryJane Robbins. “It captured the festive feeling of the season.”
Schnippering, who started Eye Cookies three years ago, has made cookies for several Rhode Island Food Bank fundraising events. “I started to get to know the people that work there and am very impressed by all their good work and deeds. I am so happy they will get this price, they really deserve it,” she said.

This is King Arthur Flour's third annual cookie contest. Winners were selected by a panel of King Arthur Flour experts after the entrees were narrowed down to the best based on nearly 18,000 Facebook votes.
