Whisk together the flour, sugar, oats, and salt. Work in the butter, mixing until coarse crumbs form.
Sprinkle topping evenly over the top of muffins, quick bread, coffeecake, etc. before baking.
Tips from our Bakers
- To bake streusel for sprinkling over yogurt, spread the mixture on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated 325°F oven for 15 minutes, stirring at 5-minute intervals until the streusel is golden brown. Remove from the oven and cool completely before storing at room temperature in an airtight container.
- For cinnamon-streusel topping, add 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon to the flour/oat mixture before working in the butter.
