Great Mix. I made jumbo muffins; they turned out well. I agree there could be more orange flavor and more cranberries.
Received this mix today and was anxious to make it. I read all the reviews and noticed that several felt the orange flavor wasnt strong enough. I called the hotline and asked if it would be ok to sub half the water with orange juice to enhance the flavor and was told that should be fine. I made my dough in the bread machine and baked in the oven. My husband and I really loved it. Each of us had 2 slices! I did use the glaze recipe suggested on the box and glad I did. Very tasty.
This is wonderful! After reading of every kind of problem users have had, I was especially careful to follow instructions. A half cup of water was exactly right. I kneaded it in my stand mixer. I was apprehensive because the dough hook didn't readily pick up the dough, so I stopped the mixer at 3 minutes and scraped the dough off the sides of the bowl. I repeated this at 6 minutes. And all of a sudden it looked right. I let it rise in the pantry with the light on since my winter indoor temperature is 66 degrees. I got an ok rise out of it, then when ready to cook put it in a cold oven at 350, where it finished rising nicely. Yes, I had to adjust the time a bit (I made rolls), but I got it right because I checked the internal temperature. Perfect!
I usually do not use mixes, but I ordered several for the holiday season to use when people stop by for coffee. I Love this mix. The texture is perfect, and so is the flavor. I had no problems at all. It only rose to the top of my bread pan, but finished rising in the oven. I did it on the dough cycle of my bread machine. Nothing is easier.....Thank You KF
Wonderful! Baked just as recommended. We love this :)
I bought this brioche mix and the little stoneware baker that goes with it. It never rose above the rim as the directions say. What rise it did have took 3 hours. I feel like a 350 oven is too hot and the directions should be changed to 325 with a longer baking time. The brioche was awful. Dry, crumbly and the crust was way too dark to achieve the 190 internal temp. After cooling, cutting and trying it, I threw the whole thing away. I will keep the little stoneware baker because it is really nice and it was a small price. I would be gun shy about trying any other of your brioche mixes!Marsha, we're so sorry to hear that the Cranberry Orange Brioche Mix did not rise well for you! This bread is wonderful! I used the bread machine to mix and knead. Couldn't be easier or tastier.
I made this on Monday and it was terrible. First off I called the Baker's hotline because the dough was too wet. I followed their instructions and added a little more flour, 11/2 Tablespoons was needed to get it to a good consistency. It did not rise enough the first rising. I continued with it because I wanted to try this brioche. After two hours, I put it in a pan and it never rose above the rim of the pan. I baked it anyway and it turned out like a brick. It was dry and tough. It was a waste of my time and money. I usually love my King Arthur products and use only their flours. I wish I knew what happened with this. I bake homemade bread every week and have not purchased store bought in over two years. I think I know pretty much how to bake most yeast breads at this point, but would be happy to take any suggestions. Thanks. We're generally accustomed to hearing back about great results with this baking mix, and we're so sorry that wasn't your own experience, Karen! Reading that the dough never rose, there may have been an issue with the yeast no longer being active. If you haven't already, please give our friendly Customer Support Team a call so that we can extend a meaningful solution to you: 800-827-6836. Kindly, Jesse@KAF
This never rose for me after several hours. I even let it sit in the oven because my kitchen is a little cold. I never have good results with mixes, thought this would be different. Just going to make from scratch next time as I should have anyway.Julie, we're sorry to hear this mix gave you some trouble. We'd love the chance to talk over some tips that may help give you a better result (kneading and shaping technique, for example). Please give our Baker's Hotline a call at 855-371-BAKE(2253). We hope to help! Kye@KAF
I served these at my Christmas lunch for friends in the red polka dotted papers. After reading reviews, I added the zest of a small orange and 1/4 tsp orange emulsion. Perfect!
